These are the current minimum pay rates under the Road Transport and Distribution Award 2020 (MA000038), as published by the Fair Work Commission. They set the least an employer can pay someone the award covers. A contract or agreement can pay more, but not less.

Minimum pay rates

Full-time pay runs from $1,021.00 per week ($26.87 per hour) at the entry level up to $1,198.80 per week at the top, across 14 classifications. A few examples:

What else it sets

  • Penalty rates for weekends, public holidays and overtime.
  • 35 allowances (for example Driver of low loader with GCM over 43 tonnes - for each extra tonne1, Driver of multi-axle platform trailing equipment with carrying capacity in excess of 100 tonnes - for each extra 10 tonnes in excess of 100 tonnes and up to 150 tonnes1, Driver of multi-axle platform trailing equipment with carrying capacity in excess of 100 tonnes - for each extra 10 tonnes in excess of 150 tonnes and up to 200 tonnes1).
