Who this agreement covers

BHP Iron Ore Locomotive Drivers Agreement 2024 covers ~542 rail operations employees in BHP's Pilbara iron ore network: trainees, shunters, yard transport technicians, rail transport technicians, rail transport coordinators, and Crew Development Officers. Annualised compensation model — high base salaries (74-180% above the Mining Industry Award) include allowances for shift, OT, weekend and public-holiday work; no separate penalty multipliers. Rates effective from 1 Sept 2025 with scheduled 4% increases on 1 Sept 2026 and 1 Sept 2027.

Minimum pay rates

Full-time pay runs from $1,838.71 per week ($45.97 per hour) at the entry level up to $3,504.38 per week at the top, across 10 classifications. A few examples:
