About Leave Entitlements in Australia

Under the National Employment Standards (NES), full-time and part-time employees accrue 4 weeks of annual leave (5 weeks for shift workers) and 10 days of personal/carer's leave per year of service. Long service leave is governed by state law.

How we calculate this & assumptions

Annual leave accrues at 4 weeks per year (5 for shift workers); personal/carer’s leave at 10 days per year, under the NES.
Long service leave follows the Act of the state or territory where you work; portable-LSL schemes have separate rules.
Casual service generally does not count towards these entitlements.
Your award or enterprise agreement may provide more, such as extra annual leave or accelerated LSL access.
