Current as of 1 Jul 2026
Helps you work out
- How many weeks of redundancy pay you're entitled to under the NES
- The estimated total based on your ordinary weekly pay
- Whether the small-business exemption may apply to you
What you will need
- Your employment start date and last day
- Your base pay rate (hourly, weekly, or annual)
- Any accrued leave balances (optional)
How we calculate this & assumptions
- Based on the National Employment Standards redundancy scale (Fair Work Act 2009, s.119).
- "Ordinary weekly pay" excludes overtime, bonuses and most allowances unless your award or agreement says otherwise.
- Businesses with fewer than 15 employees are generally exempt from NES redundancy pay.
- Some awards and enterprise agreements set higher redundancy entitlements, which override the NES minimum.
